Study of Kaonic Nuclear Bound System and Λ(1405) at J-PARC K1.8BR

The experiments, E15 and E31, at the K1.8BR beam line in the J-PARC Hadron Hall aim at investigating the K-nucleus bound states and the interaction. The E15 experiment searches for the simplest kaonic nuclear bound state, K~(-pp), by the in-flight ~3He(K~- ,n) reaction. The E31 experiment carries out a spectroscopic study of Λ(1405) via the in-flight d(K~-, n) reaction. In May 2012, construction of the experimental set up was completed, and engineering run was performed in June 2012. In this report, overview of these two experiments and the results obtained in the enginnering run are described.
