1. What makes U.S. standards and regulations so much respected by other countries who like to follow it? There could be a number of factors that would contribute to this view. Some of these factors could be that the U.S. has the longest history of regulating and operating more commercial nuclear power plants than any other country in the world. The U.S. provides transparency through its regulatory body, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), and has established detailed and prescriptive regu-lations and requirejments which are made publicly available to all. The U.S. also has guidance to assist ap-plicants with acceptable approaches to comply with many of the regulations. The U.S. uses approved methods and codes as part of our requirements and uses this information to conduct rigorously detailed reviews of every application received, ensuring that all regulations for construction and operation have been satisfactorily met.
