Nuclear fuels and structural materials: Looking to the future

ANS President Jim Reinsch opened the embedded topical meeting titled Nuclear Fuels and Structural Materials for the Next Generation Nuclear Reactors, the first in what is to be a series of topical meetings on the subject. Many ANS members involved in these areas felt that because of their importance to the Generation IV program, a topical meeting on fuels and materials was needed. Lance Snead, one of the general cochairs of the event, said that for this first meeting there would not be parallel sessions, so that everyone could attend all sessions. Furthermore, he added, all of the papers will be published.
