Dominion contracts GE for long-lead components

Dominion Generation and GE Energy announced on May 1 that they have signed a contract for the procurement of large forgings and other components for what is referred to as "a possible new nuclear-powered generating unit," the ESBWR advanced boiling water reactor planned for the North Anna site in Virginia. Despite this decision, and the fact that it calls for Dominion to pay for the production of the components, Dominion— like every other potential new reactor customer in the United States at present— maintains that it has made no firm commitment to build a new power reactor.
