Cameco Corporation announced on June 20 that one of its subsidiaries-Cameco Enrichment Holdings LLC- will buy 24 percent of Global Laser Enrichment (GLE), a venture set up by GE-Hitachi Nuclear Energy to build a new laser-separation uranium enrichment plant in the United States. The value of the transaction was given as $123.8 million. Under the new ownership arrangement, General Electric Company will hold 51 percent of GLE, and Hitachi Ltd. will hold 25 percent.
