Public undersranding of medical event risks is the subject of a regulatory issue summary (RIS) issued by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission on December 5. In the wake of changes to 10 CFR Part 35 that were put into effect in 2002, the threshold for the designation of a misadministration of radiation or radiopharmaceuticals as a "medical event" was set at over 20 percent beyond the prescribed dose.
