The rwe enpower-e.on uk joint venture for new reactors in Britain has begun operating as Horizon Nuclear Power. The 50-50 venture aims to develop around 6000 MWe of new nuclear capacity by 2025, with the first reactor coming on line in about 2020. Earlier this year, the two companies, the British subsidiaries of the giant German utilities RWE and E.ON, secured development land at the existing Wylfa and Oldbury nuclear power sites. The companies said that their nuclear program could involve an investment of over $24 billion.
