ElBaradei says his goodbyes; resolutions passed, events held

After 12 years at the helm of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Mohamed ElBaradei attended his final General Conference, the 53rd, held September 14-18 in Vienna. ElBaradei, who oversaw the IAEA through a very difficult period, was awarded, along with the agency itself, the Nobel Peace Prize in 2005. In honor of this and his many other achievements, the General Conference bestowed on him the title of director general emeritus. ElBaradei took advantage of his final conference as director general by reviewing the IAEA's achievements under his leadership and providing his views on what it could achieve in the future if given enough help and support from member states.
