Peter lyons has been appointed by the doe to the position of principal deputy assistant secretary for nuclear energy. Lyons had been a commissioner on the Nuclear Regulatory Commission until his term expired on June 30. His appointment, which does not require Senate confirmation, was announced by the Department of Energy on September 14. On September 28, AEHI announced that company executives had visited Pueblo County, Colo., the previous week to ascertain support for a plant with both nuclear and solar generating capacity and that they were "very encouraged by the supportive remarks from businessmen, labor leaders, politicians, and members of the state's administration."
