Areva's application for its eagle rock enrichment plantrnhas been accepted for docketing and formal review by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, according to a notice in the July 30 Federal Register. The Eagle Rock Enrichment Facility would be located in Bonneville County, Idaho. The application, a safety analysis report, and an environmental report for the proposed facility were filed with the NRC on December 30,2008. Areva Enrichment Services is seeking a license to possess and use source, by-product, and special nuclear material and to enrich natural uranium to a maximum of 5 percent U-235 using the gas centrifuge process. The NRC had notified Areva on March 12 that it had completed its acceptance review and had determined that the application was acceptable for formal review.
