The spot price of uranium remained at $47/LB U_3O_8 on February 6, unchanged from the previous week, according to TradeTech, which tracks uranium pricing. On its Web site , TradeTech said that the spot uranium market showed signs of life after several weeks of inactivity. One reason was the removal from the market of 450 000 Ib of material offered by Lehman Brothers as a result of the September 2008 bankruptcy. That offering had created downward pressure on prices, TradeTech said. Also spurring possible price increases was the entry into the market during the week of February 6 of at least two financial entities and one utility to inquire about potential purchases. Another utility was expected to enter the market later in February.
