W, Knf Form Venture For Control Assemblies

Westinghouse Electric Company and Korea Nuclear Fuel Company (KNF) announced on February 5 the formation of a joint venture, KW Nuclear Components Company Ltd., for the manufacture of control element assemblies for the power reactors in South Korea that are based on Combustion Engineering designs. Westinghouse will own 55 percent of KW and KNF will own 45 percent, and the company will be located at KNF's fabrication plant in Daejeon, South Korea. More than 96 percent of KNF is owned by Korea Electric Power Company, the parent of Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Co., which owns and operates South Korea's power reactors.
