ABWR aircraft impact assessment work nears end

On July 19, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission announced the completion of its technical reviews of the aircraft impact assessment (AIA) for Toshiba's version of the ABWR design. The agency forwarded its final safety evaluation report (FSER) on the AIA amendment to the Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards for subcommittee review, scheduled for August 18, and full committee review at a later date.
