Nuclear power plant maintenance assigned its own track of sessions

The 2011 Utility Working Conference, sponsored by the ANS Operations and Power Division, was held August 14-17 in Hollywood, Fla. Four new technical session tracks were added this year, one of which was devoted to nuclear power plant maintenance. Certain topics can overlap multiple areas of interest, however, and the maintenance track joined with the tracks on work/project management and engineering to provide two sessions titled "Managing Our Workload." These sessions mostly dispensed with formal presentations in favor of a facilitated open discussion. In the first, participants were encouraged to state the most urgent issues or impediments in workload management, and in the second, they tried to arrive at ways to overcome them.
