Deadline extended for American Centrifuge financing

For the second time, investors in USEC Inc.'s American Centrifuge uranium enrichment project have agreed to extend a financing deadline until a decision is made regarding USEC's request for a $2-billion loan guarantee from the Department of Energy. USEC announced on August 15 that its "standstill agreement" with Toshiba America Nuclear Energy Corporation and Babcock & Wilcox Investment Company has been extended until September 30, 2011.
