The British government has established a new agency, the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR), which on April 1 took over the country's civil nuclear regulatory activ- ities. Mike Weightman, chief nuclear inspector and director of the Health and Safety Executive's (HSE) Nuclear Directorate, heads the new office.
