N, NPT certification for Flowserve; other news

Flowserve Corporation announced on December 7 that its Springville, Utah, operation has received N and NPT certification from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. Flowserve first received an AS ME N Stamp in 1973; as a result of an ASME audit last September, the stamp has been reinstated. The certification allows Flowserve to construct Class 1, 2, and 3 valves at the facility, where its Valtek control valves are manufactured. Two agreements were announced in November in connection with Westinghouse Electric Company, as follows: Dresser Consolidated was chosen as the main steam safety valve supplier for four Westinghouse AP1000 pressurized water reactors to be built in the United States, and Stevenson & Associates has been brought into a teaming agreement with Westinghouse to provide seismic probabilistic risk assessment model development and fragility estimation services for nuclear power plants.
