Bugey-2 cleared for 40 years of operation

Electricite de France's Bugey-2 was cleared by France's safety regulator, Au-torite de Surete Nucleaire (ASN), to operate for 10 more years following its third 10th-year safety review, conditional on the implementation of measures set out by ASN to strengthen safety. ASN's findings have been given to EDF and the government ministers responsible for nuclear safety. A final decision on the reactor's continued operation is to be made before the end of the year.
