The Department of Energy is offering over $47 million in scholarships, fellowships, research grants, and university reactor upgrades to train and educate the next generation of nuclear industry leaders. The 143 monetary awards to support nuclear education and research at 46 colleges and universities around the country was announced on May 8 by Secretary of Energy Steven Chu, who said that the funding is part of the administration's efforts to keep college affordable and to promote education in science, technology, engineering, and math.
