A nuclear newcomer: TerraPower and the Traveling Wave Reactor

Energy forecasts in the developing nations of Latin America, Africa, and Asia are clear: 21st century demand increases will be massive. Between now and 2030, the global population is expected to increase by 1.5 billion, to a total of 8.8 billion. These new people will need access to electricity, but many of them will be born in the developing world, where even now, millions of people have no access. If emerging energy needs are not addressed, the result will be a humanitarian disaster. If those needs are met by the increased use of fossil fuels, the result will be an ecological disaster.
