Processing operations have resumed at ranger, nearly six months after the December 7 failure of a leach tank triggered an investigation and recovery process. Energy Resources of Australia received approval from Australian state and federal regulators to begin a progressive restart of processing operations on June 5. A restart readiness plan had previously been announced on April 9 (NN, May 2014, p. 60). Energy Resources expects the leach tank failure and its aftermath to cost the company between Aus$120 million (about $112.5 million) and Aus$140 million (about $131.2 million) for the first half of 2014.
