The construction of belarus's second reactor started at the end of April with the pouring of concrete for the reactor basemat, according to a May 27 report by the country's official news agency, Belta.The Belarusian nuclear plant, which is located at Ostrovets,will house two 1200-MWe class AES-2006 units that are fully compliant with international standards and IAEA recommendations.The Russian company NIAEP-Atomstroyexport is the designer and general contractor for the project.The construction of the first unit began in November 2013, and startup is scheduled for November 2018.
