In this April issue, as usual, Nuclear News includes a Special Section on Outage Management. And, as usual, in the outages we have covered, there are innovations and extensive planning involved in order to optimize efficiencies, minimize worker dose, and maximize safety. The Tennessee Valley Authority is having a busy spring: At the time that NN Associate Editor Michael McQueen interviewed John Garrity, general manager of outage planning and execution for TVA's nuclear fleet, one outage was under way (at Browns Ferry-3), and two were upcoming (at Watts Bar-1 and Sequoyah-2).
