IEA reports and the road ahead

With the U.S. nuclear power industry facing an uncertain future, two reports that were recently published by the International Energy Agency (IEA) should provide a stimulus for industry leaders. The first report, Energy Policies of IEA Countries: The United States-2014 Review, was released in December 2014. The second report, the 2015 edition of Technology Road-map: Nuclear Energy, which was jointly prepared by the IEA and the OECD Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA), was released in early January. The Energy Policies report is U.S. focused with a near-term perspective, while the joint IEA/NEA report provides a long-term global perspective. Taken together, the reports present a framework for the expansion of the nuclear power industry.
