The comment period on nrc alignment with icrp 103 was extended by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission in March. In July 2014, the NRC invited public comment on how the agency's radiation protection regulations in 10 CFR Part 20 could be changed to achieve closer alignment with the recommendations of the International Commission on Radiological Protection's Publication 103 (NN, Sept. 2014, p. 54). The original four-month comment period was extended in November by another four months, and in the March 18 Federal Register, the NRC added another three months. Comments are now being accepted through June 22 and can be submitted by mail to the Secretary, U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Washington, DC 20555-0001, Attn. The comments are being used in the development of a draft regulatory basis. Since the proposed rule would be developed after the basis, and the final rule after that, whatever changes are ultimately adopted would not go into effect for years.
