CA05 module placed for Summer-2; other news

As we have advised our readers in the past, what you're reading (and viewing) will seem eerily similar to what you've read (and viewed) before. On December 6, the CA05 module for SCANA/Santee Cooper's Summer-2 reactor was placed on the nuclear island. An essentially identical CA05 (which provides an access tunnel and its walls) was placed at Southern Nuclear's Vogtle-3 on October 21 (a corrected photo was published on page 28 of the December 2014 issue). One clear effect of the standardization of the Westinghouse AP1000 pressurized water reactor design, which is being used for all four reactors under construction at Summer in South Carolina and Vogtle in Georgia, is redundancy in news coverage.
