The start of excavation for the foundations of Unit 2 at the Bushehr nuclear power plant site was marked on October 31 with a special ceremony at the site, which was opened by Ali Akbar Salehi, vice president of Iran and president of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), and Alexey Likhachev, chief executive officer of plant supplier Rosatom, Russia's state atomic energy corporation.
