A NEW URANIUM SPOT PRICE INDICATOR was introduced on July 7 by the European Commission's European Supply Agency. The ESA plans to publish the indicator on a quarterly basis, provided that there are at least three spot contracts concluded by nuclear fuel market participants (including utilities, service providers, and intermediaries) during the preceding quarter. For the second quarter of 2017, ESA reported a spot price of €64.65 per kilogram of uranium (about $22.27/lb U_3O_8). Uranium market watchers TradeTech and U_x Consulting have reported little change in the market over the summer. TradeTech reported a price of $20/lb on August 4, and Ux Consulting reported $20.507lb on August 7.
