Sanmen-I passes pre-fueling safety audit

China National Nuclear Corporation's Sanmen-1 passed the comprehensive nuclear safety audit that was carried out on July 21 by China's National Nuclear Safety Administration (NNSA). According to the State Nuclear Power Technology Corporation, the project manager and main contractor for Sanmen, this is the most critical safety inspection to be conducted before initial fuel loading of the reactor, which is expected to be the first Westinghouse AP1000 unit to begin operation. The inspection covered the main plant activities, including civil engineering, plant installation, and commissioning.
