Max W. Carbon: A remembrance

Max William Carbon, a major force in establishing nuclear engineering educational programs, died on Wednesday, June 23,2021, at his home in Middleton, Wisconsin, at the age of 99.Max was born in Monon, Indiana, the son of Joseph William and Mary Olive (Goble) Carbon, on January 19,1922. He married Phyllis Camille Myers on April 13,1944, after their having met on a blind date. They were wed for 76 years; Phyllis preceded Max in death by one year. Max's survivors include his sons Ronald Carbon and David Carbon (Danhong Chen) and his daughters Jean Dabel (John), Susan Carbon (Larry Berkson), and Janet Corradini (Michael). He was loved by 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
