Those involved in temporary employment are often overlooked by those who have more steady, secure work. In April, a relatively long-standing temp was expected to depart, and you may have never been aware of it. So I ask that we all drink a toast to 2020 CD3, a small asteroid that spent two or three years orbiting Earth, holding the status of "mini-moon." There's been skepticism over the years about the actual nature of faint items shown telescopically to be orbiting the planet. Booster rockets detached from spacecraft launch vehicles have been found to hang around close to orbital height and velocity. The first mini-moon candidate, observed in 2006, was never widely accepted as extraterrestrial because of the possibility that it was a holdover from an Apollo-era mission.
