South Korea this week revealed its carbon neutrality target by the year 2050,according to President Moon Jae In.In a policy speech at the South Korean national assembly on October 28, Moon stated, "As part of the efforts to actively respond to climate change, we will strive to become carbon-neutral by 2050."Today, South Korea remains largely dependent on imported coal, which provides 40 percent of the Asian nation's energy requirements, according to the International Energy Agency. South Korea has 24 reactors that provide about one-third of its electricity; however, the current government has committed to phasing out nuclear power over the next 45 years.
