Orano Authorized to Begin Dismantling Process for Georges Besse I Enrichment Plant

The French government has granted itsapproval for French nuclear fuel cyclecompany Orano to begin dismantlingthe Georges Besse diffusionenrichment plant at the Tricastincomplex in southeastern France.A decree authorizing Orano to beginthe process was published in theJournal Officiel on February 7. Theplant, which was shut down in June2012 following 33 years of service,was replaced by the centrifuge-basedGeorges Besse II plant.
