Symposium 2019: Industry Focused on Nuclear New Build & Contribution to Clean Energy Mix

Members of the global nuclear power industry gathered in London this week for the World Nuclear Association's (WNA) Symposium 2019, where the focus was on the essential role that nuclear power generation plays in the future of the world’s clean energy mix. WNA Chairman Kirill Komarov and Director General Agneta Rising opened the conference by noting that the international nuclear power industry continues to achieve success as the benefits of nuclear power are growing with new build projects gaining momentum around the world. Rising noted that global demand for energy is expected to increase substantially in the future and nuclear power is a “proven solution,” while adding that the 475 reactors in service around the world today are the “silent giants upon which we rely on daily.”
