ITALY FLIP FLOPS ON NUKES, PLANS TO BUILD NEW PLANTS

Italy has joined the ranks of European countries taking another look at nuclear power, as Italian Minister ofrnEconomic Development Claudio Scajola vowed last week to begin construction of new nuclear plants in the Mediterranean country within the next five years. "During the term of this parliament we will lay the first stone for the construction in our country of a group of new-generation nuclear power stations," Scajola told the Italian employers' federation Confindustria, according to AFP. "We can no longer avoid an action plan for a return to nuclear power."
