The very few commercial natural uranium conversion service providers worldwide are supplied by a larger number of international producers that are spread across the globe. The growing interest in nuclear energy and the recent higher level of prices for uranium are generating new and increased uranium production worldwide. Uranium ore concentrates are transported internationally by road, rail and sea from the uranium producers to the uranium converters. Uranium concentrates are LSA-1 type material - low specific activity (LSA) material is separated into three groups depending on its activity. They are transported in IP-1 packaging, typically standard open-head steel drums which are packed into 20-foot ISO containers.
