The British Nuclear Energy Society (BNES) and the Institution of Nuclear Engineers (INucE) are merging to form the Nuclear Institute (NI).rnSpeaking at the Nuclear Institute 'publicity reception' on 24 April, BNES president John Earp said he expected that the NI will be the only active learned society in the UK by September this year.rnWhile both societies were founded over four decades ago -with the INucE only one year from its 50th anniversary - Earp said that only now that the industry has a clear future ahead of it is a merger between the two societies appropriate.
