Ageing management at Energie Baden- Wiirttemberg Kernkraft's (EnKK's) nuclear plants - Neckarwestheim (GKN) and Philippsburg (KKP) - is important to plant safety as a precaution to prevent damage. Therefore the objective of an ageing management programme is to identify at an early enough stage, relevant ageing phenomena through technical and organisational measures, and to control them for the plant lifetime.rnAgeing management is also relevant to the political situation in Germany. The political decision to shut down German nuclear plants step-by-step and not allow new build opposes the worldwide trend of lifetime extension or the building of new nuclear power plants. Ageing management is, at the moment, legally based on the German Reactor Safety Commission (Reaktor-Sicherheitskommission, RSK) recommendation on management of ageing processes at nuclear power plants, which was a result of international discussion.
