During an official visit of Russian Federation President Dmitry Medvedev to India, Head of Rosatom Sergey Kiriyenko stated that the two states were going to develop jointly a nuclear fast neutron reactor of a new generation. The head of Rosatom specified that Russia was interested in development of the thorium cycle, as India owns one of the largest thorium resources. In separate news, a Rosatom source said that Russia plans to have a commercial fast neutron reactor by 2020, the BN 1200.
