This study assumes that ProTech garments can be reused up to 100 times. As illustrated in the Electric Power Research Institute report 'EPRI Guide to Managing Nuclear Utility Protective Clothing Programs' (May 1991, EPRI NP-7309), ProTech can actually be reused up to 300 times. Applying the calculation as posed in the first row of Table 1, ProTech would be up to 210 times less costly to make on a per-use basis. Furthermore, ProTech is generally not subject to failure due to rip-outs. When a disposable garment rips in service, the worker must exit the work area and the garment must be replaced.
