A major study of irradiation caused by the Fukushima accident in March 2011 has found that almost everyone exposed to radiation is unlikely to have an increased risk of cancer. It was published by the United Nations Scientific Committee on the Effects of Atomic Radiation (UNSCEAR). The Swedish Radiation Safety Authority has written a proposal regarding design bases for a new independent core cooling function that is to be built at nuclear power plants in Sweden. The proposal will be used as part of a new law for additional nuclear power plant core cooling in 2020.
