The design and qualification of radiation tolerant equipment for the nuclear power industry

The nuclear power industry has many demands for equipment tolerant to the damaging effects of radiation. The wide variety of applications, including components handling, tooling, monitoring and communications, means that a systematic evaluation of the effects of radiation on materials and components used for equipment in radioactive facilities is often required. This Paper describes the various effects of radiation on equipment, and discusses how to manage them when using and designing equipment.
