Harry Shalgosky who died on 16 August, joined the Atomic Energy Branch of the Chemical Inspectorate of the Ministry of Supply as an assistant scientific officer in 1950 and retired as head of the Environmental and Medical Sciences Division of the UK Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA), Harwell in 1988.
