The GeoMelt~® process involves the electric batch-melting of wastes to produce a safe and stable glass (vitrified) product. The process is an established commercial technology treating a wide-range of waste types including mixed radioactive wastes and various industrial wastes. The process was developed in the 1980s at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory in Washington State, USA, and is licensed worldwide by Impact Services, Inc.
