The University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) has become the first UK university to sign up and spearhead the Nuclear University Enterprise Network (UEN) - a new initiative announced by the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform. Building on its extensive experience within the nuclear field, which includes the development of foundation degrees for the entire UK nuclear industry, UCLan will lead the Nuclear UEN together with the Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA), supported by Westinghouse UK - part of the Westinghouse /Toshiba global organisation specialising in fuel manufacture and reactor design.
