As e all know, electricity industries around the world are undergonig the greatest change in their history. For most of this century, electricity has been dominated by state-ownership: there has been no such thing as a global electricity market. Remarkably, the ideas that lie behind the drive Towards market liberalization are being led from the UK, where our experience of separation and transpar- Ency within a competitive context is proving very Influential.
