Glovebox Decommissioning at Harwell

A telerobotic means of decommissioning gloveboxes was deployed in at Harwell in 1991. It proved to be successful in reducing both the number of pressurised suit entries and waste volumes. The overall cost of the project was also less than it would have been if the work was carried out using traditional methods. It was a successful early application of robotics in decommissioning.
