Overview and Future Direction of the VI&P Comprehensive Experiments: Transforming the Vision of VI&P Services for the 21 st Century into Reality

NTT Laboratories began a comprehensive multi-phased series of field trials in 1991 with the goal of turning its VI&P service vision for the 21st century into reality. This article gives an overview of these comprehensive trials covering everything from wireless services to broadband networking applications, and briefly mentions a number of experimental projects that still lie ahead.
