Simulation of Transient Electromagnetic Fields and Beams of Charged Particles

An algorithm is developed for simulating transient electromagnetic field in plane-or axis-symmetric regions filled with an inhomogeneous dissipative medium. The Cauchy boundry-value problem is solved by the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method. Methods are proposed for approximating boundary conditions, specifying excitation soruces, and truncating the region where calculations are performed when solving exterior electrodynamic problems. The algorihm involves the solution of a self-consistent analysis problem of the motion of charged particles in the presence of their electromagnetic field. Conditions providing the completeness fo the obtained system of equaitons are anlayzed. The proposed algorihtm is implemented in the form of a comptuer program. The resutls of simulations are in good agreement with the theory.
