By the method of Hertzian vectors, the amplitude and phase characteristics of radiation from an open end of a circular waveguide in the near and Fresnel zones are obtained. The electromagnetic fields are ana- lyzed as functions of the distance from the antenna along the waveguide axis, and the far zone boundary of small waveguide apertures is specified. For single-mode waveguides, it is demonstrated that the dependences typical of the electromagnetic fields in the far radiation zone are established at a distance of 1.5 λ.
